Meet Laura...
Hi! I’m Laura Rogers, and I’ve been practicing yoga for about 10 years, have worked as a naturalist for about 12 years, and have been playing with wild critters for even longer. I decided to “kick it up a notch” and teach yoga, because I truly believe in nurturing a deeper connection between people and nature….and what better way, than through yoga? It's no coincidence that so many yoga poses are named after animals, plants, and other wonderful forces of nature! I also love helping people alleviate stress and find a healthier, more peaceful life through this invigorating
mental and physical exercise.
Besides caring for some amazing animals at work (The Nature Zone nature center), I thoroughly spoil my “kids” at home as well (a Humane Society cat and snake, a special needs box turtle and a lizard I’m “baby-sitting” for a college friend). My husband is a brave man!! In my “spare time”, I volunteer for the Wildlife Center of Virginia and the Wildlife Care Alliance as a transporter for injured and orphaned wildlife. I received my B.A. and
M.S. from Michigan State University, and am certified by YogaFit to teach Beginner, Kids and Prenatal and Postpartum (Mommy-Baby) Yoga.
Yoga sessions with me are fun, casual and full of (occasionally very bad) jokes! Children and partners are welcome to join in, or we can have a
“me-time” session with just Mom. I look forward to sharing the gift of yoga with you and your family…Namaste! (a yoga greeting!)
